"Take a Step...Save a Life" at Cancer Care of Long Island's second annual Prostate Cancer Awareness Walk, Sunday, Sept. 26, Jones Beach, Zach's Bay, Parking Field #5, 11:30 a.m. This walk is being sponsored by the KeySpan Foundation.

Sam Ruinsky, chairman of the Steering Committee for the "Walk," former vice president, Newsday, and member of the Board of Managers of Cancer Care of Long Island states, "I am not a statistic because of early detection which identified my prostate cancer and with the help of skilled doctors, I have been brought back to health."

The Prostate Cancer Awareness Walk is the only one of its kind on Long Island and is Cancer Care's Way to raise awareness about this disease that strikes one in five men. "We want to bring attention to the importance of early detection, and the need for increased funding for research and screenings," says Douglas Dahlgard, member of the Steering Committee, director of taxes for Griffon Corporation, and member of the Board of Managers of Cancer Care of Long Island. An informational program is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. after registration (9 - 10:30 a.m.) and will include prominent doctors in the field. Various Long Island hospitals will have tables set up to provide additional information.
