The good folks at Salomon Smith Barney have once again stepped up to the plate and hit a major league home run with their continued support for the Salomon Smith Barney North American Wheelchair Championship 10 Kilometer Race. Their $15,000 support for the event is the kind of major funding without which a major event like this one could not possibly take place.

All smiles as Salomon Smith Barney formally presented the $15,000 check for the 1999 Race were (L to R) Salomon Smith Barney Senior Vice President Vincent J. Brienzo, Wheelchair Athlete Jeannie Waters, Wheelchair athlete Jesse Walsh, Race Director Nick Katsouis, and Salomon Smith Barney Regional Administrator Lisa Bardenhagen

The Salomon Smith Barney North American Wheelchair Championship Race, held on Saturday, June 26, attracted elite Wheelchair athletes from all over the World to race through the roads of Long Island. The Race is administered by the Greater Long Island Running Club, with considerable assistance from the Town of Oyster Bay and its Department of Recreation and Parks. The Running Club's Nick Katsounis, himself an accomplished Wheelchair athlete and Coach, serves as the race director.

Sincere thanks are due to all the good peert (4 for 4), George Krug, ecutive Vice President Marc A. Sieben, Senior Vice President Vincent J. Brienzo, Vice President Kevin Walsh, Lisa Bardenhagen, Kerry Hunter, and all the other good folks -- both in the New York City Corporate HQ and in the Jericho office -- who make Salomon Smith Barney's support for this important event possible!
