Basketball teams (four to five players) are invited to sign up for the 13th Annual Sid Tanenbaum "Four-on-Four" Basketball Tournament. Games will be played on Sunday, June 6 at North Woodmere Park starting at 8:30 a.m. Divisions include the Women's and Wheelchair Divisions and the Boys' and Men's Divisions.

The tournament, held each year in honor of the late NYU All-American and New York Knickerbocker All-Star who was killed several years ago in a mugging attempt, is played on the same courts Tanenbaum played on with his friends. The courts were dedicated to Tanenbaum 10 years ago.

The women's and wheelchair competitions are open divisions with no age groups. For men and boys, the teams will be divided into three age divisions, 15-19, 40 and over, and an open division, 18 and over. Awards will be presented to teams that place first and second in each division. The rain site will be Lawrence #6 School, but will be determined by the Sports Unit staff by 7:30 a.m. on the day of the event. Admission to the games is free and spectators are urged to come and cheer for the players.

Players who wish to participate must have be on a team of at least four players with a maximum of five players. Each team must submit a roster during registration time, and 75 percent of the team must be from Nassau County. The deadline for registration is June 4.

Applications can be obtained at North Woodmere Park, Branch Boulevard and Hungry Harbor Road, North Woodmere, or by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Sports Unit, Administration Building, Eisenhower Park, East Meadow, NY 11554 or by calling 571-7801 or 572-0248.
