"Thank you! The cupboards are not only full but overflowing from the generosity of the Town of Oyster Bay community," said Ashley Kruger, one of the youth organizers of a food drive held recently by youth of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over 1,000 empty brown bags were distributed in Plainview and surrounding areas by youth asking for food donations to benefit the Hicksville Interfaith Nutrition Network (INN) soup kitchen. "We really felt the love of the community for their neighbors in need as we returned the following week to find full bags on so many doorsteps," Kruger continued. The Hicksville INN, located at 17 New South Road, is a not-for-profit organization run entirely by volunteers that serves a hot balanced meal each weekday at noon and on the first and third Sundays of each month. Serving anyone who comes to the door with no questions asked, the soup kitchen relies on donations to operate. "With your donations, together we are helping the hungry in our neighboring communities," said operations coordinator, Martina Schmidt.
