In order to remove any accumulation of dissolved materials which may have settled in the mains, the Plainview Water District is preparing to begin its strategic flushing program in April. The flushing program, part of the water district's regular Distribution System Maintenance Program, will be accomplished in sections. Residents will receive notification, via post card, of the date and time their area will be flushed.

During the flushing period, residents may notice a slight variation in water pressure or discolored water conditions. It is important to note that the water is absolutely safe to drink. Other water uses, such as laundering of clothes, may be affected due to coloration of water.

"Each spring we flush the water mains throughout our service area so that we can continue to provide our customers with the high quality water they have come to expect," stated Bernard Chetkof, chairman of the Board of Commissioners for the Plainview Water District. "We realize this may be an inconvenience to the residents of Plainview, but this is a necessary step the water district must take."

Flushing of the Water District's distribution system will be limited to Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. through 3:30 p.m.
