Jacobs Proposes New Legislation to Ensure Open Bidding on Land Sales
Nassau County Legislator Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury), minority leader for the legislature, proposed a local law today that would require any land sale valued at more than $250,000 to be subject to an open bidding process. According to Minority Leader Jacobs, the need for the proposed legislation was made evident when the county contracted to sell a 144-acre parcel of land in Plainview to Computer Associates CEO Charles Wang for $23 million, without an open bidding process.

Plainview Water District to Launch Spring Flushing Program
In order to remove any accumulation of dissolved materials which may have settled in the mains, the Plainview Water District is preparing to begin its strategic flushing program in April. The flushing program, part of the water district's regular Distribution System Maintenance Program, will be accomplished in sections. Residents will receive notification, via post card, of the date and time their area will be flushed.
