UJA Federation Has a History of Helping Long Island
The United Jewish Appeal Federation of New York is the metropolitan area's largest non-profit organization and the Long Island office, based in Syosset, is one of Long Island's largest philanthropies. There are 25 Long Island agencies that benefit from the UJA funds.

Gail Weinstein Assumes Principal Position at Stratford Road Elementary
At the beginning of the 1998-1999 school year, Gail Weinstein was appointed acting principal of Stratford Road Elementary School. In the months to come, the district conducted a thorough search for a permanent principal, both internally and externally. In the end, Superintendent Dr. Anthony Cavanna concluded, "The board and administration agreed that Gail was unequivocally the best candidate for the job. Not only is she an exceptional administrator who truly loves education, she has an excellent rapport with this community." The announcement of Mrs. Weinstein's official appointment as principal was made at the March 22 Board of Education meeting, with an effective date of March 8.

Runners Invited to Canon LI Marathon/Half Marathon Clinic
Runners from Syosset, Jericho, Plainview-Old Bethpage, Hicksville, and the rest of Nassau County who will be competing in either the Canon Long Island Marathon or Canon Long Island Half Marathon this year are invited to attend a special pre-race clinic to be held at the Bethpage Public Library, on Powell Avenue in Bethpage, on Tuesday evening, April 27, starting promptly at 7:45 p.m. The clinic is being co-hosted by the Nassau County Department of Recreation and Parks and the Greater Long Island Running Club.
