Four Nassau County-operated golf courses will go on a winter schedule and the other three courses will close for the season following play on Sunday, Dec. 20.

The county's winter golf operation will commence on Monday, Dec. 21, at the White and Blue 18-hole courses at Eisenhower Park, and at the nine-hole courses at Cantiague Park in Hicksville and North Woodmere Park in North Woodmere. All courses will play temporary greens only. Closed for the winter will be the nine-hole courses at Christopher Morley Park in Roslyn-North Hills, Bay Park in East Rockaway, and the 18-hole Red Golf Course in Eisenhower Park.

All courses will be closed on the following winter holidays: Friday, Dec. 25 (Christmas); Friday, Jan. 1 (New Year's Day); Monday, Jan. 18 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day); Friday, Feb. 12 (Lincoln's Birthday); and Monday, Feb. 15 (Washington's Birthday). Weather permitting, opening day for the 1999 golf season at all seven courses will be Friday, March 19. Until that time, the lower winter greens fees schedule will be in effect.
