The annual Sportset-Variety Benefit 5K Run through the streets of Syosset is always a highlight of the local road racing calendar, and members of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Road Runners Club were out in force for this year's edition, held on Sunday morning, Oct. 25.

Top pobrrc finishers were Carlos Castro, Jr. (3rd overall, 15:51), Robis DeGirminci (4th overall, 16:17), and Ron Malone (6th overall, 16:30). Top female club members were Ellen Gluf (1st woman overall, 18:11), Doreen Isenberg (4th woman overall, 19:11) and Liz Flahavan, 5th woman overall, 19:14. The first wheelchair finisher was pobrrc's Ken Lanz in 18:21.

A total of nearly 25 percent of the 335 finishers were members of the club.
