Playing the voters for fools, Mr. D. Zatlin, Republican candidate for Assembly, 13th District, reinvents himself, from community to community.

In Glen Cove, he promotes himself as a Pataki Republican. Staged pictures of the governor and D. Zatlin are posted in store windows and press releases to local weeklies, attached to the pictures, tell the voters how important D. Zatlin's advice is to the governor.

In Plainview, at a "Meet The Candidate Night," that I attended, D. Zatlin made himself over into a Democrat. He said, "there are no ideological differences" between himself and Assemblyman Sidikman. How silly of me. I guess I just don't see the logic of throwing out integrity for the sake of getting elected. One could run on a platform and maintain integrity. Of course that would be the civilized thing to do. In this campaign, however D. Zatlin wants the voters to believe that he is both a Pataki Republican and a Democrat, or perhaps D. Zatlin just thought that no one would hear his "campaign of reinvention." Horrors, of horrors, he got caught!!! Hey! What does D. Zatlin care!!! He needs a job and he likes to run for office, which he has done twice, both in losing efforts. (1995 - for city councilman; 1997 - for mayor of Glen Cove).

In Plainview, D. Zatlin also said that he is like Lew Yevoli. D. Zatlin is no Lew Yevoli, but it is apparent that he will say anything in an attempt to get the votes that Lew Yevoli received from the voters of Plainview.

In Plainview, D. Zatlin said, (10/14/98), that Assemblyman Sidikman ignores the people of Plainview, but in Glen Cove, D. Zatlin tells the voters that the fact that the Assembly District Office is in Plainview, is proof that Assemblyman Sidikman is ignoring the people of Glen Cove, in favor of the people of Plainview. In this modern age of cars and phones and fax numbers, the placement of the district office is a nonissue, but when you are D. Zatlin and you have nothing substantial to run on, you get creative with the absurd. It also appears to be true that D. Zatlin believes that the people of Glen Cove will fall for this nonissue and pile up the votes for him. It appears to be D. Zatlin's hopes that so few of the voters of Plainview will care enough about quality representation to show up to cast votes for Assemblyman Sidikman.

Let me tell you a little about D. Zatlin; things that he will not tell you; things that he would rather you did not know.

D. Zatlin, who says that he, not Assemblyman Sidikman, cares for the voters of this district, never cared enough about his own city, to participate in the fight against the Glen Cove incinerator; nor did he participate in the fight against the placement of a solid waste transfer station, within 100 feet of the closest homes. D. Zatlin never participated in the battle to get the Glen Cove residents the right to vote on our school budget. For honesty's sake, I will say that he did publicly oppose a zoning special permit request, during the 1997 mayoral campaign, but he has been silent since that campaign.

I believe that it is reasonable for the voters of Plainview to ask themselves the following question: If D. Zatlin does not care enough about the people of Glen Cove, where he lives, why should anyone from Plainview believe that D. Zatlin will ever care about them?

From the viewpoint of this Glen Cove resident who has been active in many important local issues, since 1990; who pays very close attention to political campaigns; who has been known to speak out against Democrats as well as Republicans, D. Zatlin's campaign lacks credibility. I believe that this campaign shows that D. Zatlin lacks the integrity to deal with facts. He want his distortions and lies about Assemblyman Sidikman's record to be accepted as truth by the voters. However, repetition with the hope that the people are stupid enough to believe him, over the truth, is nothing more than a lack of integrity and a lack of respect for the voters. D. Zatlin wants the voters of the 13th Assembly District to believe that he will better represent us simply because he says that is true. I believe that this is ridiculous. Quality representation depends upon the quality of, the abilities of and real concern by the person who is to represent us. In this case, Assemblyman Sidikman has a record of great service to all the people of the 13th Assembly District. I believe that in this race, it is important for each person to tell at least five other people to vote for Assemblyman Sidikman.

Re-elect Assemblyman Sidikman. Vote to continue excellence in government for all of us.
