Everyone Wins at Road Runners Club One Mile Time Trials

The weather threatened but the rains never came so the Plainview-Old Bethpage Road Runners Club's rescheduled Club One Mile Time Trials went off as planned on Sept. 22 with 54 milers being recorded as finishing the distance at the Bethpage High School track and lots of spectators enjoying a very exciting evening indeed.

Carlos Castro Jr. outkicked Don Di Donato to take top honors among the male milers, with both runners cracking the 4-1/2 minute mile and Donna McMahon was the top woman finisher in 5:25.57. The top masters runner was Chris McKnight and the top masters woman was Lori Harfenes Melnik. Oldest finisher Bill Benson turned in a 7:39.12 at age 79!
