She is known to many as the "first lady" of Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK High School. Now, as a result of a board of education appointment Monday, Aug. 24, Gail Weinstein will become the interim principal of Stratford Road Elementary School.
"Mrs. Weinstein is a very competent administrator with strong leadership skills," said Dr. Anthony Cavanna, superintendent. "Gail has proven strengths in administration, and has an excellent rapport with our community," commented Board President Alicia Kabak. "I am confident she will excel in the elementary arena as she has at the high school level."
Mrs. Weinstein joined the district in 1990 as a social studies chair. In 1992, she became assistant principal at POBJFKHS. She earned her bachelors degree at Brooklyn College, and attended Queens College for her masters and professional certifications.
While Mrs. Weinstein is serving as interim principal, POBJFK guidance counselor Georgian Kreps will serve as interim AP at the high school. A POB veteran of 28 years, Mrs. Kreps was initially a foreign language teacher. She earned administrative certification, and was also appointed at the August 24 meeting by the board.
