The fourth week of the Town of Oyster Bay's "Music Under the Stars" concert has something for everyone, according to town officials.

"On Sunday, July 26, Mattlin Middle School, Plainview, will be the place to see 'A Night of International Stars' featuring the singing duo of Merritt and Moreau and accordionist Boris Veksler," Supervisor John Venditto said. "On Monday, July 27, Ellsworth Allen Town Park, Farmingdale, will take on a decidedly Irish flavor with 'A Night of Irish Step Dancing and Song' showcasing the internationally famous singing group Cherish the Ladies and the Donnie Golden Step Dancers.

"On Tuesday, July 28, the 'big band' sound of the Glen Miller Orchestra will resound through John J. Burns Town Park, Massapequa," Supervisor Venditto continued. "And on Wednesday, July 29, our own Concert Pops of Long Island, under the baton of conductor Dean Karahalis, will take us, musically, that is, to 'The World's Fair'."

The balance of the week's "Music Under the Stars" shows will include an evening of magic and illusion featuring John Bundy & Company and Larry Maples & Raven on Thursday, July 30 at Bethpage Community Park, and a celebration of the '50s and '60s with Vito & the Salutations at Hicksville High School Field on Friday, July 31. Rounding out the week will be the Concert Pops of Long Island performing a program entitled "Great White Way" on Saturday, Aug. 1.

The "Music Under the Stars" concert series is sponsored by the Cultural and Performing Arts (CAPA) Division of the Town's Department of Community & Youth Services; Roslyn Savings Bank is co-sponsoring Irish Night; the State Bank of Long Island and Senator Carl L. Marcellino are co-sponsoring the Concert Pops of Long Island program "The World's Fair;" and United Artists Theatre Circuit, Inc. is co-sponsoring the evening of magic and illusion. Additional co-sponsors include the Green Point Savings Bank for Vito & the Salutations and the Savings Bank Life Insurance Department of the Roslyn Savings Bank for the Concert Pops of Long Island program "Great White Way."

"The 'Music Under the Stars' concert series offers the best summer entertainment anywhere and the programs are all free to Oyster Bay Town residents," Venditto said. "Remember, all shows begin at 8 p.m. Just bring along a lawn chair or a blanket, family and friends, and the town will take care of the rest."
