Otto Maximillian Huybensz, 73, formerly of Plainview, died on June 9, 1998. Born in Vienna, Austria on May 8, 1925. After arriving in the US he lived in and attended several boarding schools. He became an American citizen and served in the Army during WWII. Because of his knowledge of German and German customs he worked behind enemy lines. He was taken prisoner during the Battle of the Bulge and was freed in 1945.
Mr. Huybensz studied chemistry at St. Michael's College in Vermont and earned his bachelor's degree. He then enlisted in the Air Force. In the 1970s he was an adjunct astronomy professor at Nassau Community college, a salesman and an ice skating instructor at Rockefeller Center. He reitred in 1978 and moved to St. Simon's, GA.
He is survived by his first wife, Joanne; another ex-wife, Alisha Fitzgerald; his widow, Jayne; his children, Susan, Ellen Golds and Michael Huben. Mr. Huybensz was cremated.
