  • NEWS: Students Honored for Award Winning Water Conservation Posters

    Commissioner San Rosen, chairman of the Plainview Water District announced the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of the water district's 1998 Water Conservation Poster Contest at a standing room only ceremony attended by the winners and their families. "Each year we receive an enthusiastic response to the poster contest from the students, and this year there was an overwhelming response, with over 500 posters entered," stated Commissioner Rosen. "Judging the posters was difficult because there were a significant amount of entries deserving recognition. Those who were honored tonight clearly grasped our current water conditions and conveyed it in their posters." FULL STORY

  • NEWS: Disabled Town Residents to Get Tax Break

    The Oyster Bay Town Board on June 17 passed a law designed to provide real property tax breaks for disabled residents in the town who meet income and other eligibility guidelines. With the passage of the new law, which is similar to the Senior Citizen Tax Exemption currently available to eligible citizens, Oyster Bay becomes the first town in Nassau County to offer disabled residents an overall tax exemption on the entire assessed value of real property.
