June 6 was National Trails Day and to mark the occasion the Nassau-Suffolk Greenbelt Association mounted a big effort to help clean up the local trails from debris, overgrowth, etc.¬and the Plainview-Old Bethpage Road Runners Club was proud to be a part of the effort.

Thanks to club member Dick Opsahl for organizing the club's effort on the stretch of the Nassau Greenbelt Trail Running northeast from Haypath Road to Old Bethpage Road and to club members Barry Aronowsky, Carolyn Ciccone, Paul Cooper, Vinny Croce, Nick Palazzo and Karl von der Heydt for donating their morning to trail maintenance.

"In light of all the use that POBRRC members make of the Nassau and Suffolk Greenbelt Trails and especially now that our club offices are located just a few yards away from the Nassau Greenbelt Trail by the Northern State Parkway, it is important that we do our share to make sure that the trails are well-maintained," noted Dick Opsahl. "We were happy to be out there on June 6 and you can be sure that we will be out there again."
