The June edition of This Is Oyster Bay, the town's television show, is set to air Tuesday evening June 9, 16, 23 and 30, 9 p.m., on C-Span 2.
"This month's edition of This Is Oyster Bay starts out with two packed baseball opening day celebrations and moves right into this year's Senior of the Year festivities," Supervisor John Venditto said. "If you don't see a friend, neighbor or relative in the first two segments, don't despair. The Oyster Bay-East Norwich Boys and Girls Club Bahnik Center grand opening is sure to produce a familiar face."
The June edition of This Is Oyster Bay also highlights the Christeen, the last original oyster sloop and a visit by Bernadette Castro, New York State Commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, the town's Arbor Day celebration and 10th Tree City designations, the Glenwood Landing Women's Club's annual fashion show and more.
The Town of Oyster Bay is one of the only municipalities in the tri-state area that has a weekly television show with this kind of format. Supervisor Venditto said, "Our roving videographer travels throughout the town capturing memorable events and occasions on video. There aren't many people who can turn on their televisions and see themselves and their neighbors right up there on the screen at a little league game or marching in a parade. Here in the town, we have that pleasure on a weekly basis. In addition, we have a chance to re-live interesting experiences or tune into something we may have missed.
"Be sure to watch the June edition of This Is Oyster Bay, Supervisor Venditto concluded. "And, keep your eye out for that roving videographer. He'll be able to tell you exactly when the segment you are in will be aired on television."
Copies of This Is Oyster Bay are available at all local libraries.
