Robert E. "Buddy" Bannon Sr., age 83, a former 20-year resident of Plainview, died on May 21, 1998. Born in Middle Village, NY, Mr. Bannon, a former executive with Mobile Oil Corporation for 35 years, had been in retirement at Tamarac, FL for 13 years before moving to Levittown, PA eight years ago. Buddy was an Army veteran of WWII, where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and numerous other medals. He was a member of the VFW in Plainview and Pennsylvania and served for many years as a volunteer in the Plainview Fire Dept.

Mr. Bannon was the beloved husband of 43 years to the late Virginia (nee Slattery) Bannon. He was the loving father of Kathleen Stefanich of Syosset and Eileen Metz of Levittown, PA, with whom he resided. He will also be sadly missed by his seven grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass was held May 23 at Queen of the Universe Church, Levittown, PA. Rite of Committal will take place in Queen of the Heaven Cemetery in North Lauderdale, FL. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
