The Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK High School Moot Court Club finished in the top spot at this year's New York State Civil Law Mock Trial Competition held May 1. Thirty-two high school teams from the Metropolitan area competed at Northport High School. Plainview-Old Bethpage's second team placed third.

The winning team was comprised of Tracy Zuckerman, Michael Roth and Bruce Spolansky. Team #2 consisted of Samantha Kanner, Jason Silverston, Scott Forchheimer and Dan Forchheimer. The year 1998 makes the second consecutive year that Plainview has taken the championship, making a total of four titles in the past 10 years.
Seventeen other ranking senior and junior members of the team attended the tournament to help cheer the POB teams on to victory. The tournament concludes one year of the competition, which featured a first-place win at the Great Neck South Constitutional Law Competition; a first-place win at the 10th Annual Plainview-Kennedy High School Mock Trial Competition; a third-place finish at the Locust Valley High School Constitutional Law Competition; and a first-place win at the 24th Annual New York State Civil Law Competition at Northport High School. Advisors who guided the students to victory are Marvin Hazan and Gerard Campanelli.
