Nassau County Legislator Judy Jacobs has announced that over 4.5 miles of road surface on Plainview's Washington Avenue will be resurfaced. The roadwork is part of a county-wide program aimed at resurfacing each county roadway once during a 10-20 year cycle. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to resurface over 100 lane miles each year, which this project is estimated to do.

The county will be reimbursed for the county-wide project after completion from a state program named CHIPS (Consolidated Highway Improvement Program) if funded. The anticipated minimum reimbursement for the county project is $900,000.

The stretch of Washington Avenue that will be resurfaced runs from Executive Drive to Harvard Drive.

"I'm pleased that the rehabilitation and resurfacing of Washington Avenue will be included in the county's ambitious roadway project," Legislator Jacobs said.
