The Oyster Bay Town Board has appointed 13 members to serve on the Town's Youth Board, a voluntary advisory committee to the Youth Bureau of the Department of Community and Youth Services, according to Town Councilman Angelo A. Delligatti.
"The purpose of the Youth Board is to seek out methods and develop programs geared to improving opportunities for young people," Delligatti explained. "This town board feels that a Youth Board, comprised of adults from across the town, is an asset in helping the town develop a comprehensive network of services and programs for youth. The members each bring their unique perspective and their professional expertise to define the social issues facing our youth and formulate ways to address them."
Delligatti indicated that the 13 members appointed to the Youth Board are: Ronelle Hershkowitz, Plainview, Dean Karahalis, Locust Valley, Robert Karmon, Syosset, Peter Lynch, Glen Head; Hon. Edward P. Mangano, Bethpage; Patricia Marcellino, Syosset; Colin O'Donnell, Bayville; Ramon Reyes, Lattingtown; Joseph Saladino, Massapequa; Patricia Sealy-Curzio, Massapequa; Andrew Segale, Massapequa; Donna Truman, Glen Head; and Thomas Ward, Massapequa. The town board also appointed Thomas Bruno of Hicksville as special advisor to the Youth Board.
"These appointees come from many professional backgrounds, including education, law and government," Delligatti stated. "The town board believes they will be an active and positive influence on the future of the town's youth programming."
The councilman noted that all terms are retroactive to February 2, 1998, and expire on February 1, 2000.
