Toy Drive for the Needy

The Fabrikant Chiropractic Health and Wellness Center, located at 573 Woodbury Rd. in Plainview, has begun their annual toy drive to benefit impoverished children at Colonial Youth in Eastern Suffolk County. They would greatly appreciate help from residents in reaching their goal of collecting 300 toys for children between the ages of 3 and 13. Donated toys should be gift wrapped and labeled for age and gender.

Additionally the Center is raising funds to send 75-100 children (on buses they have rented) to see A Christmas Carol. The cost is $15 per child. Any and all contributions will be appreciated.

The Center is donating chiropractic services and nutritional analysis.

Plainview Community Unites In the Spirit of Giving

Last Saturday many local residents participated in the "Donate Your Turkey" collection outside of both Greenfield's Shop Rites.

When Leslie Newler presented her idea to Howard Norris of the Plainview/Bethpage Lions, he agreed to coordinate it with the Lions local food drive for needy families.

Newler siezed the opportunity to provide volunteer charity work for her 12 year-old son and his friends. "These kids were thrilled to be able to help. They cheerfully greeted shoppers and offered to carry the turkeys to the registers. Seeing this eager group of friends carrying these heavy birds from shopping carts into vans, and then into freezers, was really heartwarming. I'm so proud of them all." said Newler.

So many turkeys were collected - the response was truly overwhelming. Thanks goes out to those who contributed and helped.
