Defensive Driving Course
Presented by Driver Improvement Programs. Motorists who complete the course who are principal drivers must be given a 10 percent discount on both their automobile liability and collision premiums for three full years. The NYS Dept. of Motor Vehicles will reduce up to four points from the motorist's record for any infractions the motorist has been convicted of in the previous 18 months. Fee is $45. Winter Camp
Come spend the winter break at the Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary. There's lots to see and do. Spend the week or just sign up for a day. Paticipants will find out how animals survive the cold, who has left their tracks in the snow, and will have fun playing games. Dec. 29, 30, 31, Jan. 2. The Who's Tommy
The story of a deaf, blind, mute child who becomes a national sensation playing pinball. The driving score by Pete Townsend contains the hit songs, Pinball Wizard, The Acid Queen, I'm Free and Tommy's anthem, See Me, Feel Me, Touch Me, Heal Me. Traditional Thanksgiving
Old-fashioned wood burning stove, beehive ovens and hearths will be fired up to prepare a variety of foods and baked goods, from 19th century recipes, during the annual Thanksgiving meal preparations at Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A turkey or goose will be spitted and roasted in a tin reflector oven beside the Williams House hearth. Decorated pumpkin pies will brown in the brick oven and additional foods of the season chosen from a list of items that graced LI holiday tables in the mid-1800s will bubble, bake and stew. Late fall crops will be preserved for eating during the winter and the methods will be demonstrated. For information call 572-8400.
