Appointments at The Vanderbilt

John J. Ferrara, General Manager

The Vanderbilt, located in Plainview, Long Island's new Art Deco-inspired, multifaceted hospitality and entertainment venue, has announced the appointment of John J. Ferrara as its general manager. Mr. Ferrara will oversee day-to-day operations in The Vanderbilt's restaurant, main floor bar, cigar room, nightclub and private meeting rooms. His primary focus will be on maintaining high standards of quality and customer service, while assisting in the new facility's sales and marketing programs. Mr. Ferrara brings a diversified background within the hospitality industry. Among his professional attributes is a strong culinary and catering background.

Prior to this recent appointment, Mr. Ferrara served as executive chef for Coco's Waterfront Cafe (Huntington). His other career posts include that of general manager at the Harbor Club (Huntington) and Head Chef for John Anthony's on The Water (Babylon).

Voted most likely to succeed by the faculty of The Culinary Institute (Hyde Park), he graduated Summa Cum Laude from The Culinary Institute at age of 18 years. He holds an associate's degree in applied science. The American Culinary Federation and New York State Restaurant Association are among his professional affiliations.

Mr. Ferrara resides in Huntington.

Elizabeth A. Gould, Director of Operations

Elizabeth A. Gould has been named as The Vanderbilt's director of operations. In this position, she serves as directly reporting to Vanderbilt co-owner and CEO John Albicocco, in addition to supervising the bar, restaurant, nightclub, catering and maintenance staff, purchasing and inventory control and quality assurance initiatives.

Ms. Gould has been involved in the restaurant and catering industry for the past several years and brings hands-on experience in many key positions. This experience, coupled with her strong organizational and interpersonal skills have been instrumental in helping restaurant and catering facilities maximize productivity and staff performance.

Active in the local community, Ms. Gould lists the annual Harry Chapin 5K Run on behalf of Long Island Cares and various benefits on behalf of Huntington Hospital among her favorite philanthropic endeavors.

She resides in Huntington.

Anthony J. Gentile, Director of Entertainment/Promotions

Mr. Gentile will be responsible for promoting The Vanderbilt's nightclub; advancing both national acts being booked for the room, as well as scheduling acts independently, and maintaining ongoing liaison with leading talent agents.

Mr. Gentile is well-recognized throughout the New York-Metro region for his progressive, trendsetting entertainment bookings and business acumen on the nightclub circuit With a strong background in dance music he is credited with discovering new talent which subsequently becomes major international acts. Two of those he cited were Ru Paul and VOD, a hard core rock band now on the celebrated WARP tour. A dedicated team player with an open-mindedness to new and exciting forms of entertainment, he is a proven innovator among the region's leading nightclubs.

Prior to joining The Vanderbilt, Mr. Gentile served as entertainment director for Thrush (Rockville Centre), an alternative music club frequented by such well-known musicians as Taylor Dane, Joan Jett, Brian Setzer and Run DMC. Additionally, he served as promoter for Lexi Bianca (Carle Place), a supper club, and two nightclubs, Chameleon (Island Park and Industry (Island Park).

He is a resident of Long Beach.
