Santa made his annual visit to Sagamore Yacht Club on Dec. 18 for breakfast with members and their children and grandchildren. This is, after all, a boating club so Santa arrived not down the chimney, but by boat at the Sagamore dock accompanied by some of his elves and reindeer.

Gary Farkash brought his dog Roxey to the Oyster Bay Railroad Museum Preview Center on Dec. 11, along with the visit from author Heather Hill Worthington, who wrote the book, Miles of Smiles - The Story of Roxey, The Long Island Rail Road Dog. Mr. Farkash, an OBRM trustee came to the Holiday Express event with his dog Roxey, a child friendly dog. Mr. Farkash told the story of how he found, “The Other Roxey.”

The Oyster Bay Railroad Museum held its holiday celebration complete  with free horse and wagon rides, and a beautiful display of OBRM President John Specce’s model trains.

Local Children in Town’s Youth Hockey Program Benefit

The Town of Oyster Bay and the National Hockey League Players’ Association announced the donation of brand new sets of hockey equipment, courtesy of the National Hockey League Players’ Association’s (NHLPA) Goals & Dreams Fund, announced Town Supervisor John Venditto. The donation of the gear will help support the Town of Oyster Bay’s Youth Hockey program, which has long been respected for its outstanding rinks, enthusiastic participation and viable ice hockey programs.

 

WaterFront Center Benefit for the Restoration of the Christeen

The WaterFront Center invited friends to come to a benefit for the oyster sloop Christeen restoration at their party held at the Beaver Dam Sports Club on Sunday, Oct. 24.

Mary Warburgh, board secretary and Gloria Kruse, board member and fund raising chair were helping out serving drinks. Betty and Hank Tiska, who volunteer as crew aboard the many Christeen sails were there too, meeting the Christeen’s new shipwright Josh Herman and his wife Dori. The Herman’s have two gorgeous children, said Betty. They are Joey and Rosie.

There is also a second shipwright working on the keel restoration, John Cilli.
