Local artist Jerelyn Hanrahan of Atelier Studio of Fine Art has come up with a whimsical idea for Oyster Bay and the Main Street Association is helping her facilitate it with a small grant.
“We are very excited by the opportunity to support our emerging art sector in Oyster Bay. This is hopefully the first of many projects that realize the potential of the arts to support revitalization,” said MSA Director Isaac Kremer.
He added, “We love the project which is why we supported it. She is making her first two pearls to be placed in the hamlet. We want to ask the community – ‘what the pearls of Oyster Bay are’.”
Speaking for ourselves, we actually think the idea is very whimsical. In our opinion, we believe it will attract people to the hamlet of Oyster Bay who will actually enjoy walking around the area and may leave some of those proverbial “outside dollars” inside the hamlet businesses.
Let’s have fun. Watch out for those pearls!
