We really appreciated the letter to the editor from Mark Doxey. We appreciated his passion for the Muttontown Preserve and that he gave his personal remembrances of being there – showing how important it was to him growing up. It also gives an insight into the importance of the Muttontown Preserve to children today.
He made a great statement and we heartily wish his words will be taken to heart by Saratoga Associates.
Ms. Peckett said they have been having a bunch of meetings, integrating the public’s opinions on this unique preserve. “We are trying to use what we heard. Now we have general information, exisiting conditions and now are in the schematic phase. Everything will be environmentally sensitive to the historic structures at the site.”
She said at the meetings people were urged to throw out any ideas, then they are being sifted through to see which are most appropriate to the site in terms of generating revenue and aiding environmental education. “We are creating a template for all the other preserves in Nassau County.”
Ms. Peckett was most concerned that people would spread the word about the next meeting to be held on June 30 at the Hoffman Center at 7:15 p.m. She said, “I send out evite invitations for people to spread the word.”
Please consider yourself invited.
Ursula and William Niarakos of the Hoffman Center are gracious hosts. You will enjoy the evening. Come and be sure to express yourself at the meeting.
