Mystery Picture: February 19, 2010

Paige Dawson Knows Oyster Bay

Paige Dawson called to identify the Feb. 11 mystery picture in the Enterprise Pilot and said, “I do believe I know the mystery picture. It’s taken at 15 East Main Street, the sidewalk in front of Chase Edwards Gallery, when we did the Oyster Bay Chamber of Commerce winter fundraiser. We had the cocktail hour at Chase Edwards and the dinner at Wild Honey.”

She is completely correct!

We have been getting identifications from previous weeks; and between the Internet date delay and past photos, it is a little confusing. All we can say is thank you for taking part in the fun.

“I believe the photo from the Jan. 21 edition was the westernmost dock at West Harbor Beach in Bayville,” said Beverly Reilly of Bayville. (It was a good guess, but incorrect.) [It remained a mystery on Feb. 28, and hasn’t been identified as yet.]

We also received a shout from Rich Mancini. He emailed us, “I’m a little confused as the pictures and dates on the web page don’t seem to jibe – but – [It too was a try at the Jan. 21 edition] I’ll give this one a shot: It looks to be an old shot of the pier at Steamboat Landing Road. I could be wrong, as it’s been about 45 years since I was there.

“Greetings from the Pacific Northwest,” wrote Rich Mancini, OBHS class of ‘68. He is also not correct, but it was another good guess.

By voice mail, Daniel Wilson identified the Feb. 5 mystery picture as the florist on West Main Street between Spring Street and South Street. He said the Feb. 11 picture was taken at Tobay Beach off Ocean Parkway.

All answers make us very happy. It is great to hear from you and enjoy the fun of identifying scenes around Oyster Bay! Keep on guessing; it’s good for your mind.
