Kerry Gillick-Goldberg of KGG Enterprises, LLC, who along with Harlan Friedman promotes the Oyster Festival, called to say that they are already involved in planning with the committee. “They are the best people to work with. They think of the Oyster Festival all year long on how to make it better than ever. They are the greatest,” she said.
She added, “We’ve been getting phone calls from sponsors to see if they will get the same spot as last year. And there are no complaints!
“We are starting the planning a month earlier than last year and will have a much stronger handle on it than our first year of promoting the festival. We are just so happy that everyone had such a positive experience and are ready to come back this year.“Ninety-nine percent of the comments were that it was really wonderful, people were really generous in their comments,” she said.
At first people thought the changes in the configuration of Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park to allow for the new multi-sports field project was going to impact the festival negatively. Instead visitors reported back that they were pleased and amazed at how well everything fit.
Ms. Gillick-Goldberg said, “There will be more seating in the other food court area for the 2012 festival. They are going to make sure that happens. Everything else is just some little tweaks.”
But she added, “We had a lot of ideas last year but being new kids on the block, we wanted to see how it all worked and so this year, we promise some new and exciting things will be in the works.”
This year the Oyster Festival will take place October 13 and 14. Save the date! The festival is a wonderful thing. It generates so much good will for us nationally, brings new residents to come buy homes here after seeing how great it is to live here; and generates funding for so many good things to happen here in Oyster Bay.
An early welcome to Oyster Festival 29!
