At 92, Marion “Tess” Teslik was an independent, quick-witted, working woman with a flair for fashion.
Growing up in Jamaica, Queens, Ms. Teslik attended finishing school after her high school days and later enrolled at Fordham University.
She attended three years of college before meeting her husband, Alexander, Jr., while on a train traveling between New York and Connecticut. They later married and Ms. Teslik, an only child, went on to have three children, Alexander, Steven and Melanie.
Gregor F. Scheu, born March 9, 1940, third of seven children of Otto and Elizabeth (100 years old) of Frauenfeld, Switzerland, passed away suddenly on June 12, 2009. He started with aircraft model building, then flying at an early age. He graduated from engineering school, married childhood sweetheart, Vreni Marty, and moved to the United States in 1967. He was co-founder of Mill-Max Mfg. Corp., retiring in 2005, when he moved to Florida for the winter. His interest in flying his seaplane, fishing on the bay and walking his Labrador kept him in everyone’s conversation.
Arrangements were made by the Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home, Oyster Bay. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, E. Main St., on June 26 at 4 p.m. Refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Boys Club of Oyster Bay/East Norwich, Cradle of Aviation or Friends of the Bay.
Arthur L. Sullivan, 80, of Bayville, died on June 16, 2009. Husband of Maureen (nee Price). Father of Kevin (Therese), Michael Shishkoff (Christine), John Shishkoff (Justine), Donald and the late Patricia. Grandfather of Johnny, Victoria, Danielle, Christian, Matthew and Patricia. Rita Beckett (Woodson), 93, of Oyster Bay, died peacefully in her sleep on June 12, 2009. Wife of the late Acie. Mother of Geraldine Smals and Alan Beckett (Donna). Daughter of the late Lucien and Rosie Woodson. Grandmother of Latisha Beckett and Regina Beckett-Alston. Great-grandmother of Elijah Beckett and Kaleb Alston. Joseph J. Peirano, of Locust Valley, died on June 12, 2009 at age 89. He was a member of Locust Valley Fire Dept. Chemical Co. for over 70 years. Husband of Joan.
