George W. Cutting Jr., of Oyster Bay and Homer, AK, died after a long illness on May 13, 2010. Born on July 13, 1932, the son of George W. Cutting and Mary Converse Cutting of Warrenton, VA, he graduated from Fessenden School, Brooks School and Yale University. A former stock broker and portfolio manager, he was an active volunteer for many nonprofit organizations including: Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Nassau County Chapter of the American Red Cross, The Nature Conservancy of Alaska, The Community Foundation of Oyster Bay, Youth and Family Counseling of Oyster Bay, Rotary Club of Oyster Bay and Pratt Museum of Homer, AK.
Mary Sangermano (nee Abbate), 95, lifelong resident of Oyster Bay, died peacefully on May 10, 2010. Wife of the late Michael Sr. Mother of Vincent (Jeanne), Elizabeth Bishop (David), Michael Jr., Maria SantAngelo (John), Tina Scadin (David) and the late Paul. Grandmother of Jennifer Balmanno (Scott), Gena Kowert (Lorne), Vincent Sangermano (Monet), Paul Sangermano, Mary Bishop, Ariana SantAngelo and Gabrielle SantAngelo. Great-grandmother of four. Also survived by brothers, Eugene Abbate (Frances), Sam Abbate (Marie) and Angelo Abbate (Charlotte); and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Friday at St. Raymond’s Church in East Rockaway for Antoinette Grieco, 107, who died May 9 at White Oaks Nursing Home in Woodbury.
Ms. Grieco was known for maintaining good health, a sharp mind, and a happy disposition throughout her life. Family and friends often marveled at her energy and continuing interest in life.

Josip Grgas, 70, of Oyster Bay Cove, died suddenly on April 20, 2010. Beloved husband of Vedrana. Loving father of Natasa Royer (Michael), Carol Adibi (Kami) and Steve (Mariana). Cherished grandfather of Amanda, Michelle, Natalie, Paulina, Sofia, Steven, Camille and Faith. Dear brother of Bozidar (Marija). Adored uncle of Nick (Susan) and Dina. Proud great-uncle of Tiana, Kristen, Nicole and Thomas. He was the devoted patriarch of his family and an avid sportsman. Arrangements were made by the Oyster Bay Funeral Home. James D. Brown, Jr., 80, of Syosset, died peacefully at his home on April 19, 2010, after a series of medical setbacks. Jim was born in the Hawaiian Islands Dec. 13, 1929, the son of James Davidson Brown of Scotland and Jessie Evans of Kansas. A graduate of Punahou School in Honolulu, he then attended Haverford College in Pennsylvania and married Karin Anne Brinkmann of Manhasset, shortly after graduating. Jim spent his working career with Brinkmann Instruments, which was based for many years in Westbury. He served as a sales rep in Pennsylvania and Houston, TX, before moving to Syosset with his family in 1963 to become a vice president of the company. Jim remained in this position until his retirement in 1994.
