Andrew J. Delloiacono, 49, of East Meadow, formerly of Oyster Bay Cove, died on Oct. 11, 2011. Beloved son of Alfred and Judy Delloiacono. John Davis Walters, 86, of Syosset, died on Sept. 28, 2011. Cousin of Jessica (née Wetterau) Davis (Phillip). Also survived by relatives and friends. Felicia Poveromo died peacefully and with grace, on Sept. 27, 2011. Wife of the late Joseph. Mother of the late Marie Baccari and Margie Mathieson, Mary Ann Seidman (Ray), Angela Scaperotta (Nick), Josephine Lampe, Phyllis Smykowski (Lou), Dominick Poveromo (Liz) and Michael Poveromo (Mary). Grandmother (Mar) of 18 and great- grandmother of 31 +2. Felicia was loved by many and lived her life devoted to her family. She was often referred to as the peacemaker. James (Jim) Dougherty, 84, of Bayville for 60 years, formerly of North Adams, MA, died on Sept. 16, 2011. Husband of Bette. Father of Jeffrey Dougherty (James Caffery), Timothy (Pamela), Beth Ann, Sharon Ward (Thomas) and the late Kadi. Brother of Budd Dougherty. Grandfather of Timothy Dougherty (Patricia), Patrick Dougherty, Kellen Dougherty, Kaity Ward and Holly Ward. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Arlindo Jorge, longtime resident of Glen Cove and of Locust Valley, died on Sept. 14, 2011, age 87. Husband of Barbara and the late Evelyn. Father of Judy, Arlin and the late Nancy. Nicholas Labella died at the age of 77, of a sudden, massive heart attack on Saturday, September 17, doing the thing that he loved the most, talking to a group of people at the Theodore Roosevelt gravesite at Youngs Memorial Cemetery. Nick was born in Oyster Bay on September 8, 1934.
His wife Mary said he loved TR and was a great defender of his life. Whenever someone said something that lessened him, Nick would research the issue and respond to clear up the record. He was the superintendent of Youngs Memorial Cemetery and could have retired but he loved talking about TR, she added.
Jody Hawthorne, 52, of Elmont, died on Sept. 8, 2011. Son of Dolores and the late Evertt Hawthorne. Brother James, Jay and Jeffrey. He was a graduate of Oyster Bay High School. Funeral services entrusted to Oyster Bay Funeral Home. Interment private.
