Sue Klein and Joan McCauley, who are Friends of the Library, have been collecting donated books from the community and displaying them at the Long Island Railroad waiting area every week. The Book Ladies have also displayed Locust Valley Library programs so that commuters are aware of all the wonderful events that are going on.
Klein and McCauley feel this service gives Locust Valley a small town feel. Commuters have been taking advantage of the free books, especially the children’s books. Feel free to visit the station and grab a book; and if you see these hard-working volunteers, mention how much you appreciate their kindness. The Friends provide wonderful programming for our community, from children’s shows to art lectures. They also put in long hours for the library’s annual book sale.
