Santa Ride Food Drive

Santa Claus will be out on the streets of Oyster Bay riding on his favorite fire truck again, on Saturday, Dec. 22 for the annual Santa ride and food drive by members of the Atlantic Steamer and Oyster Bay Fire Companies for the benefit of Oyster Bay’s needy from noon to 7 p.m.

Movie: Hope Springs

The Oyster Bay-East Norwich Public Library presents Hope Springs at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Kay and Arnold are a middle-aged couple who have been married for 30 years and now are sleeping in separate rooms and barely interact in any meaningful loving way, but hope springs eternal. Starring: Steve Carell, Jean Smart, Meryl Streep, Tommy Lee Jones. (Rated PG-13 for mature thematic content involving sexuality, 100 minutes)

Great Books Discussion

The Locust Valley Library, 170 Buckram Road, presents their Great Books which is held twice monthly from 2 to 4 p.m. Discussed will be Nostromo by Joseph Conrad. For information and registration, call Jennifer at 671-1837. All are welcome.

Edible Forest

The Oyster Bay-East Norwich Public Library presents the Edible Forest for children 3 to 5 years with an adult from 1 to 2 p.m.. Decorate a container with enamel markers, foam, glitter and stickers. Use your container to plant chocolate trees in Oreo dirt with gummy shapes. Top your trees with frosting, sprinkles and mini M&Ms. For more information or to register, call the library at 922-1212.

Blood Drive

Angel’s Wish Gala

Reservation deadline for the Christina Renna Foundation (CRF) is hosting An Angel’s Wish Gala Dance at Chateau La Mer, 845 South Wellwood Avenue, Lindenhurst on Friday, Jan. 11, from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. Tickets: donation of $75 per person. Proceeds benefit children’s cancer research at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. You must reserve your tickets by Dec. 22. Holiday Twilight Tours

The Vanderbilt Museum, at 180 Little Neck Road, Centerport, has been decorated for the holidays by interior designers and garden clubs and offers its very popular twilight mansion tours the evenings of Wednesday-Friday, Dec. 26-28, 7 to 9 p.m. Admission: $10 for adults, $9 for students and seniors (62 and older), and $5 for children 12 and under.
