Movie: Love Actually

The Locust Valley Library, 170 Buckram Road, presents their Thursday afternoon movie, Love Actually at 1:30 p.m. The movie is rated R and runs for two and a quarter hours. Refreshments by the Friends of the Locust Valley Library. For information call 671-1837.

OBHS Concert

The OBHS Grades 9-12 Winter Concert Part I features the Wind Ensemble and Mixed Chorus and starts at 8 p.m., in the OBHS Auditorium.

Fall Nature Walk

Nature walk at the Hoffman Center Nature Preserve and Wildlife Sanctuary located at 6000 Northern Blvd., in Muttontown. Meet the guide at the site entrance at 12:50 p.m. Gate is locked when tour begins. No pets, no children under 10 years of age, or organized groups permitted. No registration required. Owl Prowl at OWG

The TR Sanctuary & Audubon Center presents an owl prowl at Old Westbury Gardens on Dec. 15 in two sessions, from 6 to 7 p.m. and from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Come for a night hike to hear the calls of native owls. The $12 fee includes admission to Westbury Holiday House for refreshments and a visit with Santa. Registration required, call 333-0048. 

Free Holiday Ice Show

Town of Oyster Bay residents and their families are invited to come out and kick-off the holiday season at a free Holiday on Ice Show at the town Ice Skating Center, from 6 to 8 p.m., the center’s skating students will do choreographed routines to music. Please bring two canned goods, which will be collected by Island Harvest.

Candle Walk, Caroling

The Oyster Bay Main Street Association presents the First Annual Yuletide Candle Walk and Caroling at six Oyster Bay Churches on Sunday, Dec. 16, starting at Christ Church at 4 p.m. The walk ends at the North Shore Community Church for refreshments.

Shrek The Musical

Angel’s Wish Gala

Reservation deadline for the Christina Renna Foundation (CRF) is hosting An Angel’s Wish Gala Dance at Chateau La Mer, 845 South Wellwood Avenue, Lindenhurst on Friday, Jan. 11, from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. Tickets: donation of $75 per person. The Vanderbilt Museum, at 180 Little Neck Road, Centerport, has been decorated for the holidays by interior designers and garden clubs and offers its very popular twilight mansion tours the evenings of Wednesday-Friday, Dec. 26-28, 7 to 9 p.m. Admission: $10 for adults, $9 for students and seniors (62 and older), and $5 for children 12 and under. Rescuing the American Townscape from its Own Recent History is the entreging title of a Society for the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities (SPLIA) lecture on Jan. 6. U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Needs Oyster Bay Recruits

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla in the Oyster Bay area is recruiting new members. They are needed to assist the Coast Guard in performing Homeland Security missions and to implement the Coast Guard’s many recreational boating safety programs. No experience or boat is required. Muttontown Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

The Fellowship provides an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie, with talks presented by intelligent enlightening and non-dogmatic speakers who come from the entire spectrum of the arts, history and sciences. This is followed by coffee and an informal discussion circle, held in the turn-of-the-18th century farmhouse in a bucolic setting.
