Put on your best sneakers and join your family, friends and business associates in a casual, fun-filled day of activities for children and adults of all ages at the 2009 Sports Day. This event will be held on Saturday, May 30, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Cantiague Park, Hicksville, to benefit the children of Schneider Children's Hospital.
If you enjoy the camaraderie of participating in sports and outdoor springtime activities, then this is the perfect event for you. Start the day by rocking to the tunes of popular Long Island radio station, WKJY 98.3 FM that will play your favorite music and provide giveaways for all attendees. Throughout the day, youngsters will have the chance to play on inflatable bouncies and talk to the famous Sparky, the Long Islander's team mascot. Meet the characters from The Wizard of Oz, actors from the Long Island Theater Group who will put in an appearance to delight the young and the young-at-heart. A delicious barbecue lunch will be provided for all guests.
For those who relish in the challenge of the games, you can take your team "out to the ball game" and compete against other corporate teams in a high-spirited, friendly atmosphere. Competitive co-ed softball, as well as volleyball tournaments, will be held throughout the day. An award ceremony will be held at the closing of the day (after the final rounds) to recognize the winners of the tournaments.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available at a variety of levels and categories. All sponsors/donors will receive a receipt from the North Shore-LIJ Health System Foundation, of which Schneiders Children's Hospital is affiliated. All sponsors will be recognized at the event: on advertisements, pre- and post event press releases, tee-shirts, and on the Sports Day Web site, www.annualsportsday.org. All donations are tax deductible.
