Senior Oyster Bay wrestler Dan Arnel became the first Oyster Bay wrestler in the school's history to become an All - State wrestler. Dan placed fifth in the prestigious New York State Wrestling Championships the weekend of March 1 and 2, in Albany, NY.
Wrestling in this competitive tournament, Dan wrestled six matches, winning four, to achieve All-State honors. He completed an outstanding wrestling career; with a season record of 39-3 and a career record of 109 victories. He captured two Nassau County titles and two All-State honors. His early honors were achieved while attending Syosset High School.
Dan was also awarded the New York State Wrestling Championship Tournament "Sportsmanship Award." He accepted this award in representing Oyster Bay and Nassau County Section Eight Wrestling Division II for his competitiveness with true sportsmanship.
Dan was also awarded the Champion of Champions Award voted by all the Nassau County tournament champions.
Dan will be attending and wrestling at the University of Wisconsin next fall.
