The U.S. Department of Transportation United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is offering a boating course for young boat operators ages 10 through 18. It starts on Tuesday, March 17 and will run from 6 to 8 p.m. It will be held at the Bayville Community Center, 88 Bayville Ave.

The course will be conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 12-3, in cooperation with the Incorporated Village of Bayville. It will be held in four sessions: on March 17, 19, 24 and 26.

Attending the entire course will provide the certificate required by New York State for boaters 10 through 18 years of age. The tuition and course materials are free.

It is mandatory that the student attend all four classes to receive certification. There will be no exceptions. There will be extensive homework. Students are asked to please take notes.

There will also be classes given to adults for the New York State Personal Watercraft Certification at the same time and dates. There is a $10 fee to the state for that course. Logo
