When things get tough it is time to get back to basics. In this new year, 2009, we face an exceptional challenge - living in a world where all around us businesses are failing and people are losing their jobs.
What is wonderful in this community is that it already has caring organizations to help soften the blows of life.
So the message for this new year is to remember those people who reach out to help others in the community. They include the Youth & Counseling Agency of Oyster Bay-East Norwich; CSAC, a committee of the Interreligious and Human Needs Council; the Celia Flower Pantry operated by YFCA and the food pantry of the North Shore Community Church; and St. Dominic's outreach.
This would be a good time to consider donating to those caring organizations that keep the fabric of our community together and whole to ensure that 2009 will be a happy and prosperous new year for all. - DFK
