The Oyster Bay Tornadoes (girls under the age of 14) soccer team just completed a successful soccer season winning division 3 and will be moving back to Division 2 in the spring. The team ended the season with 7 wins, one tie and one loss. The team scored 24 goals while only allowing 8.
The team has been very successful since it was organized five years ago. Last spring it faced tough competition in Division 2 and now we are looking forward to the challenge with a much improved team.
The team's hard practices during the month of August along with playing soccer seven days a week since September paid off with the divisional. Our team consists of very talented young ladies.
The team is coached by Sal and Maria Albanese and trained by Mike Mourello from Intense Soccer Academy. Join us in congratulating the girls for an excellent season and wish them luck in Division 2 in the spring. A special credit goes to the Tornadoes parents for raising such great young ladies and assuring that they attend all practices and games.
A special thank you to Tyler Cranz, our team photographer, for taking all the pictures.
The Tornadoes are: Alessandra Puccio, Molly Sullivan, Katie O'Brien, Gabrielle Albanese, Arden Etts, Julia Cranz, Katrina Capiello, Erica Eisenberg, Marissa Venuto, Marissa Matarese, Amanda Kalen, Erin Allen, Melissa Albanese, Melissa LaCorte, Claudia Ratner and coaches ,Sal Albanese and Coach Maria Albanese.
(Omitted from last week's team stories was that of Molly Sullivan.)
Meet Molly Sullivan: Molly's natural soccer abilities were demonstrated in the first game of the season. After being away during the summer, her first touch of a soccer ball was a goal. Molly is always ready to play tough and take on any opponent. Her strong ability to handle the soccer ball along with her confidence makes her a great soccer player.
