Oyster Bay High School Senior Billy Clark represented Oyster Bay and Nassau County in the Long Island Police Athletic League High School All-Star Game at Stony Brook University on Wednesday, Nov. 26. Nassau County was the winner of the Conference 3 and 4 game by a score of 35 to 20. This team was the only Nassau County team to win in any of the final playoffs or all-star games. Billy Clark was named defensive MVP (most valuable player).
When an All-Star team plays, there are quite a few students playing such that the offensive and defense are often split into two squads that share the playing time during the game. In the half game that Billy Clark played defensive end, he had three sacks and seven tackles which would be remarkable for full-game statistics. It is no wonder why Billy was awarded the MVP trophy.
At the 43rd Annual Gridiron Banquet held at the Crest Hollow Country Club on Dec. 1, Billy Clark was also honored as a member of the Conference 4 Academic All-County Team. To qualify for this honor a student must have an 85 or higher academic average in addition to athletic distinction.
Billy plans on attending college next year and has applied to several schools. Oyster Bay Varsity football coach Jeff Schiereck added, "Billy was an asset to our team as he would be for any team in the county. Things will not be the same with him not around next year. I wish him luck and hope he has a successful college career."
