The Oyster Bay Railroad Museum is expanding their popular Preview Center located at 102 Audrey Avenue, to the adjacent space at 100 Audrey Avenue, just in time for the Oyster Festival weekend, Oct. 17 and 18.
The Preview Center opened in February 2008 in response to a concern by the museum board of directors that a location in Oyster Bay was needed to communicate to the public its mission and vision for the future and to display both passive and active exhibits while the historic former LIRR station building was being renovated and presently off limits to the public.
"The public response to the Preview Center has been tremendous and it became apparent that we were outgrowing our space and needed to enlarge our square footage in order to expand our programs," said OBRM President John Specce. "The wall separating the two adjacent spaces will be opened, providing additional display areas, office space and enlarged seating for programs," he continued.
During the Oyster Festival, the Preview Center will be open, featuring displays, merchandise for sale and operating "N" and "O" scale model railroad layouts. On Saturday, popular vocalist and musician Howie Smith will perform. For more information on the OBRM go to www.OBRM.org.
