The Oyster Bay Raptors U-15 boys soccer team had a sensational start to the new season. The Raptors competing in the U-16 division of the prestigious two-day HBC Labor Day Tournament went 4-0 to take the title. They started out with a 5-0 win over the East Islip Most Wanted by displaying a smothering defense led by Alex Carchietta, John Diaz, Alex Petrillo and Thomas Sweeney.

They moved on to face the tough and physical Latin Stars Soccer Academy and again posted a 3-0 shut out led by goal-keeper Keegan Petersen and relentless defenders Yorman Velasquez and Niklas Helmick.

The Raptors then faced the Auburndale Scorpions and this time it was the midfielders Christian Garcia, Thomas Regan, Oscar Bonilla and Thomas Awad who led the way with solid defense and incredible play making. The Scorpions were the only team to score against the Raptors but it was not enough as Oyster Bay won 4-1.

The championship game was a rematch with old foe HBC Dragons. The two teams had met twice in the past with the teams splitting the games. HBC came into the game without giving up a goal but that soon changed as the Raptors won 3-0 as they continually attacked the net. Throughout the tournament the slick passing of Joey Giunta and goal scoring of the forwards Ricky Velasquez and Willie Treiber kept the opponents on their heels.

Congratulations to all of the Raptors on this fine accomplishment!
