How Well Do You Know the Area? Do you know where this week’s picture was taken? If you do, call the Enterprise-Pilot at 747-8282 and let us know. If you have a picture that you think might be interesting for others to guess, drop it off in our box at Raynham Hall Museum, 20 East Main St., Oyster Bay.

Rhoda Crawford identified the mystery photograph in the Aug. 28 issue of the Enterprise Pilot as, "The brand new apartments across from the funeral parlor. I grew up in East Norwich, married and moved to Bayville. I'm going to Florida in two weeks - to stay. I'm a snowbird, or snowflake," she said. "I live on the West Coast in Englewood. It goes, Tampa, Venice and then Englewood. It's quiet. I love it. I'm out every day biking, swimming, bocce ball. But I'm a native New Yorker. I went to Oyster Bay schools from the third grade up. I love the area. It's a great area. I don't do much swimming here. The water's cold. I'm spoiled," she said.

"The mystery picture is of the new condos next to the Gulf gas station and diagonally across from the Boys and Girls Club," said Jack Greenfield.

"That is the view when you are facing south getting gas at the Gulf station. It used to be the parking lot for the VFW and now it is home to empty townhouses," said local resident Mike Fletcher.

Nancy Hussey of Oyster Bay Cove said, "The picture is of the flowers at the Oyster Bay Gulf gas station on South Street."

Mildred Austin said, "The mystery picture is taken at the gas station right next to the new Mariner's Walk because they have a beautiful arrangement of flowers there. And, I love the paper!"

Virginia Serringer said, "The picture is right next to the Gulf gas station in Oyster Bay. I sit there and get gas and admire their garden of flowers - and look at the new condos."

We loved that other people enjoy the lovely flowers Glenn Nielsen puts in at the Oyster Bay Gulf station as much as we do. You can see his efforts are appreciated by the community. He takes pride in the way the station looks. With more merchants with his attitude - we might solve the problems of the hamlet. - DFK
