The Oyster Bay Thunder Girl's Softball Team clinched the Championship game in Bayville on June 16 during a tight game and a thrilling victory against the Bayville Rockies with a 7/6 win. This is the first Championship win for an Oyster Bay Softball Team.
Thunder had a great season record of 10-1 this year. The team was led by solid pitching throughout the season by 6th grader Lindsay Sweet and 4th grader Dana Galgano, with key pitching and catching during a clutch game by 5th grader Kelsey Doyle.
The Thunder flashed leather at each game with stellar plays by 4th grader Cristiana Reilly, their golden glove at first base, 5th grader Michelle Morris at second base, 6th grader Olivia Agostinello at shortstop and "Little lightening", 4th grader, Faith Smith at 3rd base, as well as 5th grader Madison Albert.
The infield was supported by strong bats and amazing defensive plays by 5th graders Kristen Mon, Linda Cameron, Lauren Cadavid, Morgan Baxter, Holly Rose Boruta and Virginia Kemp, with 5th grader Kelly Comack like a cat behind the plate. The Thunder coaches, Tony Agostinello, Andrew Galgano and Bobby Morris are proud of the girls accomplishments, improvement and effort during this very rewarding season.
