Paige Dawson called to identify the mystery picture in the May 29 issue. She said, "That's me with the band in front of the Oyster Bay Water District on Cruise Night. We were getting ready to do the raffles." She added that the Oyster Bay Chamber of Commerce, of which she is the vice president, had a tasteful Business After Hours at Oyster Bay Manor on Wednesday, May 28. "We had such a good party, people stayed late. One older gentleman played the piano, as did Larry Nathan. They have redecorated Harbor House and it was lovely. They had passed hors d'oeuvres and champagne and it was just elegant. It was a chance for Rachel Dombrowski to introduce her partner, Bill DiConza, Esq., as well as Paul Rosen and Michele Browner and other staff members," she said.
The second call started out with, "The mystery picture in this week - May 29 issue - includes Paige Dawson standing on Audrey Avenue, in front of the Oyster Bay Water District building on Cruise Night. This is Alex Gallego and I have solved the mystery photo and come down to Cruise Night next week."
Billy Minicozzi too recognized the location as Oyster Bay, near town hall. He added on a Bayville note: "Bayville has gotten two new garbage trucks."
We even received more specific answers to the mystery picture, which is a joy! Glen Roethel called and said, "I'm seeing the water works building during Cruise Night, the antique auto show on a Tuesday night. I am at the right, with the guitar and a microphone. The lady from the chamber is ready to raffle off dinner at Canterbury Ales, across the street. That was really fun.
Another call added to our knowledge. A lilting voice said, "I in fact can identify the picture. It was the raffle at Cruise Night, probably last summer in Oyster Bay. I am Hillary Foxsong, and the guy with the guitar is Glen Roethel who is in my band. The band is called Gathering Time and we will be there on July 22." Now you know why the voice was so lilting!
Dulcie Fabbricante called about the mystery mystery picture from May 22. She said, "It's the new benches at the Western Waterfront, to the right at the Nantucket Lightship. The benches that face out at the water, where there is a new parking section."
Barbara Jackman called to identify the picture in the May 15 issue. "It was the Brooke Jackman run last year, and thank you for your help," she added. The annual run is a benefit for the Brooke Jackman Foundation which provides books and book packs to needy children. - DFK
