Celebrating National Park Week: Park Ranger Josh Reyes distributes Junior Ranger Programs at the Sagamore Hill Visitor's Center.

Sagamore Hill National Historic Site in Oyster Bay, a unit of the National Park Service will be celebrating National Park Week with its theme of connecting children to Theodore Roosevelt and his Sagamore Hill home with a variety of activities.
In addition to the house tours and museum exhibits that are always available, Sagamore Hill has offerings for families, including talks, walks and junior ranger activities. Please note that the outdoor events are dependent upon the weather; some may be moved, postponed or cancelled due to inclement weather. If you wish to participate in a beach walk or clean up make sure to wear appropriate footwear and clothing. Special events of the week include the opportunity to participate in the following:
Saturday, April 19:
Rangers will have talks on Theodore Roosevelt: noon, 1 and 3 p.m.; check at Visitor Center for location.
Beach Walk: 2 p.m.; meet at Visitor Center.
Sunday, April 20:
Rangers will have talks on Theodore Roosevelt: noon, 1 and 3 p.m.; check at Visitor Center for location.
Beach Walk: 2 p.m.; meet at Visitor Center.
Tuesday, April 22 Earth Day:
Beach cleanup: 9 a.m. to noon., assemble in front of Visitors Center at 8:30 a.m.; bring gloves; water and refreshments will be provided for the participants.
Wednesday, April 23:
Rangers will have talks on Theodore Roosevelt: noon, 1 and 3 p.m.; check at Visitor Center for location. Beach Walk: 2 p.m.; meet at Visitor Center.
Thursday, April 24:
Rangers will have talks on Theodore Roosevelt: noon, 1 and 3 p.m.; check at Visitor Center for location.
Beach Walk: 2 p.m.; meet at Visitor Center.
Friends of Sagamore Hill Lecture Series: Amy Verone on the Fourth Estate visits Sagamore Hill: The Press and TR; Putting TR in His Place. Lecture will be given at Masonic Lodge in Oyster Bay; call 922-4788 for information.
Friday, April 25:
Arbor Day tree planting; James Foote portraying Theodore Roosevelt will give a talk on Arbor Day at 2 p.m.
Rangers will have talks on Theodore Roosevelt: noon, 1 and 3 p.m.; check at Visitor Center for location.
Beach Walk: 2 p.m.; meet at Visitor Center.
Saturday, April 26, Junior Ranger Day
Scouts dressed in uniform will receive free admission for two adults. Junior Ranger activities for kids; those completing an activity will receive a "Kid Power" coloring book.

Beach Walk: 2 p.m.; meet at Visitor Center.
Sunday, April 27:

There is no cost for any of these programs and no charge for kids 15 years and under; tour tickets for mom and dad are $5 each and tickets are sold on a first-come first-served basis for each day beginning at 9 a.m. Sagamore Hill National Historic Site is located at 20 Sagamore Hill Road, Oyster Bay.
