Born September 7, 1919, son of Bertha and Rudolf of Skalicza, Czechoslovakia. Enlisted in the United States Air Force in the defense of his country on May 8, 1942. Honorably discharged with the American Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal with the rank of Sergeant on January 15, 1946. Proudly served and protected the citizens of the City of New York as a member of the New York City Fire Department from 1949-1982. Member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. Survived by his wife of 60 years - the love of his life Betty "Bettina" (Hilbert). Loving father of Micky (Linda), Lynn Grigoraskos (Yannis), and the late Lizbeth Ann Riehl (Jeffrey). Cherished grandfather of Jesse, Jennifer Simone (Patrick), Adam, Christian, Katina, and the late Ashleigh. Also survived by many loving relatives and friends.
