With our short deadlines for the holidays the mystery picture has gotten backed up. But there is always time for readers' calls and we love to include them in the column.
Brandon Rainey called to identify the photo in the Dec. 27 mystery picture in the Oyster Bay Enterprise-Pilot. He said, "The mystery picture is the Oyster Bay HSBC bank."
Paige Dawson also called on Saturday after Dec. 27 and said, "Of course I know what the picture is of the area - the beautiful snow flake lights stretched across South Street near Burtis Avenue. It was the joint effort of the Oyster Bay Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Association and the Oyster Bay Civic Association. And, a happy new year to all!"
Belle Santora said, "It's the HSBC bank in Oyster Bay on the corner of Burtis and South Street. The picture is taken at night. Have a happy new year!"
And More:
For the Jan. 3 mystery picture we received calls from several readers. Beatrice Cardinale aced the Jan. 3 identification. She said, "It's the auditorium of the Oyster Bay High School."
Billy Minicozzi guessed the photo was of the stage of the Bayville Primary School. A good comment on school construction plans.
Janet Herschel said, "It is the Oyster Bay High School auditorium."
Mary Rickard, too, said it was the OBHS auditorium. We asked how she knew. She said, "My grandchildren go there and I'm always there seeing the plays they are performing in." - DFK
