This area of the North Shore of Long Island always has interesting things going on. There are always interesting things to write about. We are looking forward to this year to see what happens.
This month the Theodore Roosevelt Association will be hosting its first community meeting on Jan. 10 at Christ Church, to talk about their plans for the proposed TR Museum and Research Center and then answer questions mailed to the Rev. Peter Casparian who will be the moderator.
Next TRA President Jim Bruns will be speaking at the Oyster Bay Civic Association meeting on Jan. 17 in answer to their meeting in December that brought up issues that need addressing involving the use of Firemen's Field as the location of the 100,000 sq. ft. museum and two-story parking garage for 350 cars.
We look forward to hearing how the museum plans are evolving.
Of special interest is that the Theodore Roosevelt Association is bringing its annual meeting to the Oyster Bay area from Oct. 26 to 28. It will include several interesting speakers at the conference to be held at the Glen Cove Mansion (the former Harrison House conference center), as well as a parade in Oyster Bay and a visit to Youngs Cemetery and TR's gravesite. It will be good for us to see an example of what cultural enrichment the TRA can bring to the community.
These are interesting times and we are looking forward to the interaction between all the interested parties. - DFK
